    The Datavideo KMU-100 creates a virtual 8-camera HD shoot in minutes, with the use of only two 4K sources.

    KMU-100 is an advanced video processor that converts an UltraHD video (3840×2160) into four user-defined HD windows, ready to ingest into a switcher. With two independent 4K channels, KMU-100 can generate up-to 8 3G-SDI outputs.

    In addition, KMU-100 converter is compact and easy to use. The device is supplied with intuitive control software which can be installed on an Ethernet-connected laptop or PC. Alternatively, users can connect a Datavideo hardware controller RMC-185 if they prefer a more traditional joystick controller.

    Live Events

    Create a four or eight camera concert using one or a pair of 4K cameras.     Worship

    Small worship productions usually only need a few camera angles on stage; for example, a close up of the pastor, the choir, a shot of the choir, and a wide shot of the stage. Now with KMU-100 you can get all those camera angles with just one 4K camera.

    Broadcast

    Setting up for a press conference has never been easier than with the KMU-100. Set up one camera and get multiple angles of those at the podium, conference table, and get a wide shot of the setting without a camera operator.

    How does KMU-100 operate?

    KMU-100 simultaneously converts two video inputs with resolutions up to UltraHD (3840×2160). It supports a variety of video formats and enables connection of signal sources in the form of SDI and HDMI. The HD output signals (8 channels) are created by indicating an active area from the area of the device’s input signals for each channel. These areas are defined by the application installed on a computer connected via LAN to KMU-100.

    The definition of the area, which will determine the output content, is a simple positioning of a rectangle in the MultiViewer preview for a given channel. The windows can be re-sized and re-positioned independently and dynamically, even while live on air. For one of the channels, you can scale the signal from full 4K resolution to full HD, and there is up and down scaling (zoom) possible for all other outputs. The output area (position of each rectangle) can be in constant motion if you wish or can automatically follow a preset path.

    This way, KMU-100 creates 8 SDI outputs (2 x 4 or 1 x 8). Two MultiViewer HDMI outputs are used for live video preview and device configuration.

    RMC-185 KMU Controller can be added to easily pan, tilt, and zoom the user-defined windows on the 4K signal. You can set up these shots in advance and save them as presets, or you can do it in realtime.

    THE TECHNOLOGY

    12G SDI allows you to record, play and upload video materials in Ultra HD quality at up-to 60p – that means the quality four times better than traditional HD 1080 with video resolution of 3849 x 2160.

    12G-SDI is compatible with all SDI equipment.

    Quad SDI technology enables transmission of UltraHD resolution feeds with the use of four 3G SDI signals and standard cables. In practice, this solution was developed even before such formats as 12G SDI appeared. KMU-100 also supports this format giving you the full compliance with earlier devices operating in UltraHD formats.

    The HDMI 2.0 standard means the highest image quality, supporting bandwidth up to 18 Gb/s, and video resolutions up to 4K. The KMU-100’s two HDMI 2.0 inputs allow users to connect professional or even semi-professional video cameras.

    Outputs definition

    Each channel has four rectangles definition of the way how input signal is divided into 4 different outputs. Is it done by drawing 4 different windows 1, 2, 3 and 4. Content bordered by every window will be send to corresponded output.

    Windows animation

    Animation is possible for every rectangle. User select size and position of Start and Stop the rectangle. One can select animation mode:

    • Once – single pass from Start to Stop,
    • Ping-Pong – cyclic pass Start-Stop Stop-Start Start-Stop,
    • Loop – cyclic pass Start-Stop Start-Stop.

    • Preview – Four rectangles in Start position on live input.
    • Animation preview – visible rectangles Start, Current, Stop on live input, but only for selected tab 1, 2, 3 and 4
